Time: Saturday, December 17 @ 9-10:30am
Location: Zenzele Consignment @ 2205 University Dr (Northwood Shopping Center)
I will lead a moderately paced, morning practice at Zenzele. Class will be about an hour in length with time after for questions. I send everyone home with a practice sheet. I’ll serve some tea and light refreshments. Participants will get a 10% discount on their purchases. The shop has clothes, of course, but also natural body products, books, and gift items. For those who may be new to yoga or new to me, the following is a short description of the kind of work I do. There’s more info on the site.
Vinyasa Krama is a complete system of techniques brought to the West by several key teachers who studied under the same teacher, Sri Krishnamcharya. In the final decades of his life, Sri K emphasized an adaptive approach to teaching yoga for each individual’s needs. Many of these principles can be taught in group sessions, and that is what I will focus on. Participants will go home with a daily practice sheet.
This extended class is perfect for students already practicing a blended approach, and who may not have experienced a traditionally structured, breath centered class. For those new to practice, I offer clear and simple direction.
Led by Kerry Porter
Cost: $20 each or $30 per pair (bring a friend or partner!)
Class structure: Invocation, asana, pranayama (60min); Q&A (30min)
This yoga class is a fundraiser for Uhuru Solidarity Movement, organizing in the white community to build solidarity with African Liberation and reparations to African people. All proceeds will go toward the African-led Uhuru Movement building African self-determination and economic development in the hands of the African working class. Huntsville is home to Zenzele Consignment. Please consider contributing more to this important local project. Click here for Zenzele’s website.
We will accept cash, check, or card on the day of the workshop.
