Give STL Day 2020 for the Black Power Blueprint!
We are waging a campaign to raise up the baddest nonprofit in St. Louis and on the planet, the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (apedf.org), and their latest project the Black Power Blueprint, building economic development and cultural programs in North St. Louis.
We are honored to interview the St. Louis economic development director of this project, Ticharwa Masimba!
We will also screen some unseen footage of the marketplace construction, and volunteer testimonials!

Uhuru Solidarity Movement comrades are finding unique and creative ways to host Give STL Day fundraisers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Nothing will stop the progress of #Reparations!
Comrade KC Mackey, USM Midwest Regional Coordinator hosted “Club Reparations: Livestream DJ set for KC’s Bday Fundraiser” which went live on Facebook and Twitch!
This past Sunday, comrade Jackson Hollingsworth, USM Southern Regional Coordinator hosted “Politics of Potter: From Reparations to Covid-19. With Trivia!” reaching and surpassing his goal of $200 for the Black Power Blueprint!
This same weekend, comrade Halley Murray, USM Northern Regional Coordinator, hosted “Fingerloop Weaving reparations workshop w/ Halley” via Zoom.
On Tuesday, May 5th at 8PM EST, comrade Nina Guevara, USM Social Media Chair, will go live with “Improv Session: a fundraiser for the Black Power Blueprint.“ Kana and Nina will be guiding the group through improvisational and compositional scores as offerings for movement exploration.
From 6-11pm EST on Wednesday, May 6th, comrades Declan Kelleher and Carbon Anderson from the Northern Region of USM are hosting “No Surrender” featuring DJ sets from Dee Diggs, Akanbi (GroovyGroovy), DJ Temporary (fka Yogic, GroovyGroovy), DJ Reparations, and a live set from Pamela_ and her sons.
“The organizers of No Surrender believe that hosting an event that puts forth the ever important question of reparations is extremely necessary. This party creates an entryway into revolutionary organizing through the historically political and unifying power of techno and house music, which were born of African resistance. No Surrender calls on white solidarity with black power.”

Need help crafting a winning message?
You might try starting with something like this:
- For this year’s Give STL Day, I’m supporting the African People’s Education and Defense Fund, because I care about its mission to defend the human and civil rights of the African community. This cause is close to me because [explain why you love this organization]. I am asking YOU to join me in giving to APEDF’s work because their work is making a difference!
- Please be a part of the movement, and donate to my fundraising campaign, which you can find at [insert your campaign’s unique URL]. Every gift can help African People’s Education and Defense Fund win additional prizes, too!
- I’m hosting this fundraiser because the Black Power Blueprint, organized under the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF), is building black self-determination and a liberated African economy, uplifting the entire St. Louis community.
