Today on September 20th the Uhuru Solidarity Movement-St Petersburg joined other organizations and individuals from the Tampa Bay area to demonstrate at the Port of Tampa at 5:30am calling for the longshoreman and truckers to refuse to unload an Israeli Zim ship. A similar action took place in Oakland, CA in August where the Zim ship was blocked for four days. These actions were initiated by the Palestinian General Federation Trade Union (PGFTU).
Kefira Baron, the local chair of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement in St. Petersburg, Florida, said, “We felt it was important to be out here standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Just like Africans are colonized inside the United States, the people of Palestine are colonized, oppressed, terrorized and brutalized by the Israeli state. It’s the same system. It’s the same struggle. We, as white people, must take a stand in solidarity with the resistance of the oppressed peoples of the world – from Ferguson to Gaza. Free, free Palestine!”
Long live Palestine!
