In the following video, Uhuru Solidarity Movement organizer Stu Becker speaks to a journalist in Dallas, TX at a demonstration to call for the closing of the Guantanamo Bay detention center where the US government detains and tortures Arabs, Africans and other colonized peoples. The Uhuru Solidarity Movement works under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party in solidarity with African liberation and for reparations to Africans and oppressed peoples everywhere.
We call on all white people to join the USM national web conference on January 26th, 2014 to get involved in the struggle for African liberation, the only way to end a system based on oppression, violence, and torture. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about how to participate in this critical conference to launch the worldwide campaign for reparations to African people for 500 years of slavery, genocide, and colonialism.
Below is the statement delivered at the Close Guantanamo Bay demonstration by Comrade Stu on behalf of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement:
Guantanamo Bay is part and parcel with U.S. imperialism’s counterinsurgency effort against resisting oppressed people of the world. Africans in Philadelphia and elsewhere are also similarly tortured in the U.S. prison system. We can’t merely say close Guantanamo Bay. We must also say close the entire U.S. prison system which is a tool of counterinsurgency against resisting internally colonized people inside the United States. 75 % of the 6 million people in U.S. prisons, jails, on probation or on parole are African, Mexican, and indigenous.
This is a tool of counterinsurgency. They lock up poor and working class colonized people (Africans, Mexicans, indigenous people) because that is where the revolution is! We must also say shut down imperialism itself! This can only happen when Africans, Arabs, Indigenous people and other colonized peoples have self-determination and power over their lives. White people, all white people sit on the pedestal of the oppression of African people, only future for us is in solidarity with African people, that is the true road to justice, freedom and socialism for the world’s peoples.
The Uhuru Solidarity movement is an organization of white people that was created by the African People’s Socialist Party. The Uhuru Solidarity Movement works under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party in order to correct our historic role as oppressors of the African, Indigenous, and Mexican-indigenous communities and parasites living off of the stolen wealth and resources from these oppressed communities.
All white people benefit from the colonial-capitalist oppression of African people, indigenous people, Mexican-indigenous people, and violent European colonialism consisting of expropriation of land, cheap labor, and extraction of resources from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. We sit on the pedestal of this rotten system of imperialism and global capitalism that came into existence as a result of the genocide of the indigenous people, the theft of this land, and the slavery of African people, and European colonialism.
The white ruling class doesn’t merely keep this stolen colonial loot for itself, it shares this wealth with the general white population in order to win our support and complicity with the colonial-imperialist violence against the rest of the world, and looting around the world against oppressed, colonized people. White people are not the 99%, we are amongst the top 20% of people in the global capitalist system. We owe reparations to African people and other colonized people as a function of this humanistic revolution against imperialism.
Therefore, if we want to overturn this system of imperialism and build real socialism, we must join in solidarity with struggles of colonized people UNDER THEIR LEADERSHIP. This is what the Uhuru Solidarity Movement is all about. This is why our primarily role is to REPARATIONS WORK, that is, raising material resources inside the white community, turning these resources over to the African People’s Socialist Party, helping them maintain and build organization in their building of the International African Revolution/the struggle for Black Power.
