The African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) is proud to announce important changes in the responsibilities of some of our leading members.

APSC is the organization of Euro-Americans founded by the African People’s Socialist Party and working in white communities under the Party’s leadership.

Comrade Stephanie Midler, a member of the APSC National Central Committee and the former chair of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM), has taken over the reins of Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles in Oakland, California following Store Manager Joel Hamburger’s resignation after 20 years.

The Uhuru Furniture Stores in Oakland and Philadelphia are institutions under the Party’s nonprofit, the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF).

We are excited about Stephanie’s enthusiasm for taking over the manager position, a post she carried out in an excellent way a few years ago at the Uhuru Furniture Store in St. Petersburg.

Comrade Stephanie will be missed as the Chair of Uhuru Solidarity Movement, which she has headed up with powerful leadership and energy for the past several years. Under Stephanie’s leadership, USM built its membership, became an important and more influential force in the world and consolidated its leading body.

Comrade Jesse Nevel, a dynamic young member of APSC has been named to the position of USM Chair filling Stephanie’s post.

Jesse is a public speaker for the solidarity movement, a tireless writer for the USM blog and a popular community organizer who staffs outreach tables weekly and wins many new members.

We salute Comrade Joel’s 20 year participation in the bustling Uhuru Furniture-Oakland where he built a tremendous base of shoppers, donors and friends as well as a devoted, friendly and hard-working staff.

The African People’s Solidarity Committee looks forward to building new victories and successes following the Party’s Sixth Congress. These dynamic comrades are already breathing new life into these critical fronts of Party work.
