In Memory of USM Member Anna Franchi
Uhuru Solidarity Movement would like to recognize the passing of a dear friend, Uhuru Solidarity Movement member and longtime Uhuru Movement supporter who passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012.
Anna Franchi – who is survived by her brother, Uhuru Solidarity Movement member Joe Franchi, was the backbone of the Franchi family, taking care of her daughter Roxanne, her mother, her nieces and nephews, as well as Joe.
Anna was an active member of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement for many years. She served as branch secretary, participated in outreach and the Uhuru Flea Markets. She attended the African People’s Solidarity Committee National Plenary at the Uhuru House in St. Petersburg, FL in January 2011. Even when she could not attend herself, she consistently supported her brother Joe to attend every single year.
During the preparation of this memorial in memory and honor of Anna, so many individuals from the Uhuru Solidarity Movement, African People’s Solidarity Committee as well as the African People’s Socialist Party expressed their shock, sadness and condolences at the news of her untimely passing. Everyone shared similar stories of her kindness and her unwavering support of justice for African people in the U.S. and around the world.
Anna was 50 when she passed away. We are proud to count her among the membership of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement. We salute her support of the African People’s Socialist Party and the entire Uhuru Movement. And we send our deepest condolences to Joe as well as their entire family.
